RAMSGATE OPEN AIR ART GALLERY
MAY 2011-PLEASURAMA SITE
These have begun from the former Tunnel Railway side of the site and are working their way to the proposed hotel end near the Royal Victoria Pavilion.
Work commenced initially with 2-4 men. One working on the reinforced grating, and then working with another, to drill together chipboard/Plywood ready for the concrete to be poured into the foundation and reinforced bar up stands.
MARCH 2011- PLEASURAMA SITE (AKA ROYAL SANDS BUILDING) + MARINA RESTAURANT GOING UP FINALLY!
Plus a bonus of the Marina Restaurant is now rising from the rumble since its demolition in 2008!
The site is still empty and a mess!
WE NEED AN ICE RINK! or maybe a skate park for the local youth! Open up the Tunnel Railway tunnels as a BLITZ experience! have the Ramsgate Friday Market down there...a public seafront MINI GOLF OR PARK like the High line project in Manhattan! SAVE THE PLEASURAMA SITE! MAKE IT AGAIN BE USED AS A PUBLIC FUN AMENITY!
Mail your thoughts to me!
Do you think that:
- There should be the proposed Royal Sands on the site?
- A public landscape or park?
- A museum or experience?
- Another Runway?
- A heritage center?
- Swimming pool?
- Ice rink?
- Hotel?
- Amusement arcade?
- Skate park?
- Drive in cinema?
- Electric train station for the seafront?
- Conservation center for plants and species?
- Existing state of the site?
- A temporary, funded or grant arena for the arts, sports or culture?

Thanet Council's new plans
New Pleasurama complex not to start until 2010!
Its interesting to think that the plans have gone through approximately 6 phases.

This is what it should be now!
EASTCLIFF VIRTUAL TOUR? MAYBE!
There maybe a 3D tour coming to this site! But still in the concept stage...but here are some screen snaps!!!
(These were made on computer!)
Looks to go ahead!
There have been rumors that the Royal Sands development was going to be toppled due to supposed cash flow problem! However at Terrance painter Estate agents they dismissed such claims say that too much capital has been invested into the development...it will go ahead!
Many people...like myself believe that flats will not be beneficial for the area... we need leisure...not more because what we had is destroyed!!! (Look out for a Ramsgate Publicity video 2008 soon to be released!)
The signs have been installed...I knew they would! and the access road at the front elevation has been finished which will flow up the side of the proposed white spiral stair case tower of the hotel.
I have noticed three major changes in the designs on some elements...
go on the BBC'S website an you'll notice white cliffs (see above image) and a stair case to the side!
on the royal sands banner or website you'll see the new flat rounded roofs that replace the gull winged ones!
and finally on PRC Fewsters website (who are the architects behind it) tell a different story with the wings on the roof tops.
2008- Marina Restaurant demolished!
White cliffs of Ramsgate
They have been eroding and grey for decades, and have now finally have had a face lift! Many people are still doubting the Royal sands development, but if it is going to proceed we could be looking at July for the foundations being laid! Well for now enjoy are artificial white wonder cliff, impersonating a real chalky white cliff!
10TH Anniversary of Pleasurama's fall!
On bank holiday Monday May 25th 1998, a major fire broke out on Ramsgate's sea front. Fire fighters from all over kent went to takle the blaze, about 150 in all. Local resisdents watch the blaze as it ripped away at the once fun palace of fun since 1927-1997. Still o this day no one knows what caused the blaze, but what ever one thing is for sure like the fate of Pleasurama and Dreamland, Margate all of Thanet's family fun amenities have disappeared stipping it bere of fun and shrouding it it bordem! Since the fire, the site remained desolate, until on day in 2007 as it opened for the finaly as an amusemnet park! It is currently under progress for the Royal sands development! (no fun just flats!)
As you can see from the most sad image of them all, the landmark clock tower was the last to go!
